From Padua to Nuoro by tractor to support Sardinian farmers facing crisis due to wildfires

The Belluco farm, supported by Deutz-Fahr, extends a hand to Sardinia after the devastation caused by summer wildfires.

100 quintals of straw, 100 quintals of hay and 200 quintals of corn have been delivered to the Civil Defence Service.

Ottana (Nuoro), 7 September 2021 – after driving across Italy from Bovolenta (Padua) in two Deutz-Fahr tractors, Marco Belluco, son of one of the proprietors of the Belluco farm, and his friend Sebastiano Sgrinzato, today disembarked at the port of Olbia to deliver 100 quintals of straw, 100 quintals of hay and 200 quintals of corn to the Civil Defence Service. The duo were accompanied by SDF personnel supporting the initiative together with the DEUTZ-FAHR brand.

The produce was taken to the collection point in Ottana (Nuoro) where it will be distributed to the Sardinian farmers and livestock producers from Oristano who have been hit hardest by the large number of serious fires that have persisted in the region since 23 July.

“As soon as we heard about the problems facing our Sardinian colleagues, who have been severely affected hard by the summer wildfires, I knew I had to help them by finding the materials they needed, from the stocks we use each day on the farm” commented Marco Belluco. I had the idea of driving there in DEUTZ-FAHR tractors as because I know these machines are reliable and that I could rely on support from the company, which helped me with count on the support of the company which helped me with the logistics and organising the trip. I spend my days working on tractors, so obviously this was the natural choice to reach the farmers on Sardinia and take this aid to them” concluded Belluco.

Deutz-Fahr is a brand that produces high-powered, high-technology tractors and is part of the Italian multinational SDF, a leading world manufacturer of tractors and harvesters. The company took the decision to support Marco Belluco by providing the farmer with its 6185 TTV and 6175.4 TTV models, as well as all the logistics support needed to complete the operation.

This gesture of solidarity came during the dramatic summer of 2021, when according to estimates by Coldiretti Sardegna[1] and the local authorities, thousands of farms and livestock holdings have been affected with more than 20,000 hectares destroyed by flames. The damage is estimated to amount to at least 1000 million euros.
